It is one of the most popular beaches in town. Ipanema beach inspired the composer Vinicius de Moraes when he composed the song Girl from Ipanema, which was responsible for Tom Jobim tune. It is a traditional meeting place for locals and tourists and it is used for the practice of many sports.
